Arthur MORITZ
1895 Oschatz - 1959 Pesterwitz
German painter, landscape and animalist. He began his studies at the Royal Academy of Graphics and Books in Leipzig, which he dropped out of. From 1918 to 1922 he studied at the Dresden Academy of Fine Arts under Emanuel Hegenbarth. From 1933 to 1942 he was a teacher in Obernaundorf. Called up to the army during World War II, he was taken prisoner of war. From 1946 until his death, he worked as a freelance painter in Pesterwitz. He worked mainly as a painter of animals and landscapes.
