Bernard FRYDRYSIAK
1908 Warsaw - 1970 New York
In 1928-34 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw with Tadeusz Pruszkowski and Władysław Skoczylas. He was a member of the group Czerń i Biel and the Brotherhood of St. Luke. He lived in Warsaw and from 1949 in New York. He painted portraits, landscapes and genre scenes, and was one of the co-authors of a series of historical compositions at the 1939 World Exhibition in New York. In painting he referred to the work of the small Dutch masters of the 17th century, as a graphic artist he practiced metal techniques, mainly drypoint and etching and woodcut, in which he clearly contrasted areas of black and white, and was also a good draughtsman.
