Study of painting begun at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow was interrupted by World War I. In the interwar period, he was a garrison commander in his hometown. He participated in the 1939 September campaign as a lieutenant colonel. In 1946 he settled in Warmia, on the banks of the Dadaj River; six years later he settled in Olsztyn and devoted almost all his time to painting. He was most fond of painting landscapes and flowers, but also portraits and still lifes. He was one of the artists shaping the cultural face of post-war Olsztyn. From 1958 to 1964 he headed the Olsztyn Art Exhibition Office. From 1957 to 1967 he was secretary and then president of the Olsztyn district of the Association of Polish Artists. He is the creator of the fresco on historical themes in the Olsztyn Town Hall and the author of theatrical scenery.
