In 1930 he began working at the Catholic Bookstore in Poznań, from where nine years later he moved to Vilnius, fascinated by the city and the shrine of Our Lady of Ostra Brama. There, among other things, he worked with the Institute of Higher Religious Knowledge. He learned wood engraving after the war, observing the workshop of the staff of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Stefan Batory University in Poznan. He made art prints, book prints and exlibris. He participated in major exhibitions at home (about 150) and abroad (about 30). For outstanding achievements in the field of sacred art, A. Golębniak was awarded the Brother Albert Chmielowski Prize in 1979. The artist's creative attitude was also honored by the International Center for Art, Culture and Information "La Spondo" in Rome in 1961.
